Republic Bank pledges $5,000.00 in support of Carriacou Maroon & String Band Festival

St. George's, Grenada. April 16, 2012 - The annual Carriacou Maroon & Regional String Band Festival is Republic Bank's latest recipient of financial support, aimed at preserving the unique cultural heritage of our Sister Isle, Carriacou. The Bank's Managing Director, Keith Johnson presented to the Grenada Board of Tourism, chief organizer of the event, a cheque valued at $5,000.00 in support of the festival, which takes place on the Sister isle on the weekend of April 27-29, 2012.

On making the presentation to the Board of Tourism's Director, Mr. Simon Stiell, the Bank's Managing Director, Mr. Keith Johnson reiterated Republic Bank's commitment to supporting and preserving for succeeding generations, the uniqueness of our cultural values and heritage.

The festival, held over three (3) days, showcases traditional "smoked" food, dance, string band music, drumming and other cultural performances from local as well as regional participants.

The event is expected to be a major tourism boost to Grenada's economy. Republic Bank joins in applauding the initiative taken by the organizers, as we partner to ensure that this rich, inherited tradition remains alive in Carriacou.
