St. George’s, Grenada; September 24, 2025: In a heartwarming show of community spirit, staff of Republic Bank’s Head Office units traded their computers and spreadsheets for painting tools as part of a Staff Volunteerism Project aimed at giving back to the community.

Over the course of the initiative, the 25-strong team rolled up their sleeves and transformed 14 classrooms as well as the boys’ and girls’ restrooms at the Calliste Government School with fresh coats of paint. The project, which took place between Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th was more than just a facelift for the school - it was a demonstration of the Bank’s ongoing commitment to youth development and education.

“Our staff were excited to step away from their desks and contribute directly to improving the learning environment for the students,” said Mavis Mc Burnie, General Manager – Operations at Republic Bank. “This initiative not only reflects our corporate values, but also fosters a sense of comradery and personal fulfilment among our team.”

Armed with brushes, rollers, paint and an infectious sense of enthusiasm, the volunteers gave the classrooms a vibrant makeover that is already being appreciated by the teachers and students.

The effort was applauded by school officials, parents and the business community, who recognize the value of such partnerships in enhancing the quality of education. The Bank’s team was supported by Gary’s Paint & Decorative Finish whose team donated their time and expertise, and Ansa Coatings (Grenada) Limited, which supplied the painting material at discounted prices.

Principal of the Calliste Government School, Mrs. Annette Lewis, expressed heartfelt thanks: “We are incredibly grateful to the Bank’s team for their time, energy, and generosity. The refreshed classrooms are a source of motivation for our students and a testament to what can be achieved when the private sector and community work together.”

The Staff Volunteerism programme is part of Republic Bank’s broader Power to Make a Difference community outreach programme, which includes initiatives which promote education, environmental stewardship and social development.
