St. Mark's Secondary School receives Assistance under Republic Bank's Power to Make a Difference Program

St. George's, Grenada. September 17, 2012 - Students of the Home Economics department at St. Mark's Secondary School, located in Waltham, St. Mark returned to a newly enhanced Home Economics laboratory, at the start of the new school term, made possible by Republic Bank, through its Power to Make a Difference programme.

A ceremony to commission the refurbished Lab was held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the School. Republic Bank's Manager - Commercial Credit, Mr. Valentine Antoine, in his remarks at the ceremony said: "As Republic Bank celebrates 175 years as a financial services institution in our region, we are extremely proud of the immense accomplishments we have had, under this programme so far. St. Mark's Secondary School is one of three (3) successfully completed projects this year, and our commitment is to continue empowering persons among us, to make a difference."

Home Economics, is one of several technical disciplines taught at the School. This donation is expected to enhance the learning environment of the students and teachers who use the Laboratory.

Refurbishment to the Lab included replacement of seven (7) windows, internal cabinetry and repairs to sections of the roof which required new galvanized sheeting and ceiling ply, in some areas. Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) was committed to the project, with an additional contribution of $5,000.00 (Five Thousand Dollars), from the School.
