Republic Bank RightStart / GCA Under 19 Finals

St. George’s, Grenada; April 10, 2016: After a nail-biting end to an exciting tournament, St. David’s, led by West Indies U19 player, Ryan John, defeated defending champions St. Andrew to win the 2016 Republic Bank RightStart Inter-parish Cricket Tournament, organized by the Grenada Cricket Association (GCA).

The Bank, for the second consecutive year, has partnered with the GCA to host the tournament, which is a key training ground for selecting players for the national and regional Under 19 teams. Managing Director of Republic Bank, Mr. Keith Johnson praised the young cricketers and encouraged them to aspire, like Ryan John and Emmanuel Stewart, to make the West Indies Under 19 team, a stepping stone to the West Indies Senior team.

GCA President Dwain Gill, expressed the Association’s satisfaction with the success of the tournament, highlighting noteworthy improvements in the teams’ performance overall. He expressed gratitude to Republic Bank, for its financial support towards the development of the Sport.

At the end of the tournament, a number of players were selected for training for the national U19 team, and a chance to represent Grenada at the Windward Islands Under 19 tournament to be held in June, later this year.
