St. George’s, Grenada; July 25, 2025: Republic Bank, is proud to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to Angel Harps Steel Orchestra for the 44th consecutive year. In recognition of the band's extraordinary contribution to the cultural and musical heritage of our country, the Bank continues its annual financial support to help offset recurring operational expenses and to assist with preparations for the highly anticipated 2025 Panorama championships.
As one of the country’s most celebrated steel orchestras, Angel Harps has carved out an enviable legacy at both the junior and senior levels of Carnival competition. Their dedication to excellence, musical innovation and community engagement has made them a national treasure and a source of pride for generations of pan lovers and Republic Bank, alike.
“Angel Harps represents the very soul of our culture — a perfect blend of tradition, talent, and tenacity,” said Aesia Worme, Acting General Manager – Operations at Republic Bank. “We are honoured to stand by them once again, just as we have for over four decades. Our commitment goes beyond sponsorship; it is a partnership rooted in shared values and a deep belief in the power of music to unite, uplift, and inspire.”
The financial support provided by Republic Bank through its flagship “Power to Make a Difference” programme, will help to meet the band’s operational needs year-round, including instrument maintenance, youth development programs and rehearsal logistics. As Carnival 2025 approaches, this funding will also aid in the intense preparations required to compete at the highest level of steelband performance at the Panorama competition.
Band Manager, Brian Sylvester, expressed gratitude on behalf of the band: “The continued support from Republic Bank has been instrumental in our success story. Their belief in our mission has helped sustain our music and mentorship programs, and made it possible for us to be represented both at the junior and senior levels of competition.”
This year, Angel Harps celebrates 60 years as a steel band; the oldest known in Grenada. The band’s longevity is attributed to the dedicated group members, some of whom span over four decades, the band’s community outreach programme which targets juniors and the firm backing of Republic Bank over the years. Harps’ enviable track record includes: Fourteen National Panorama championships, 8 Pan Expressions titles and 15 Junior Panorama wins. This year, the juniors will perform “Blessings” by Blakka Dan at Kiddies’ Carnival, while the seniors will perform “Heart of Carnival” by V’ghn at the national Panorama.
With sights firmly set on another championship season, Angel Harps and Republic Bank look forward to another year of musical excellence, cultural celebration, and community pride. We extend best wishes to the Band in this year’s competition and encourage all of Grenada to support them.
