Republic Bank pays a total of $22,870.00 to assist Bursary Recipients and Top CXC performer

St. George’s: - October 17, 2014- Republic Bank continues to provide support for the youth, through education. For the seventh consecutive year, the Bank has provided Grenadian nationals with opportunities to advance and develop educationally through its Bursary Programme, with the University of the West Indies, Open Campus-Grenada. This programme allows persons to remain at home while pursuing a bachelor’s degree online.

Twelve (12) students recently received tuition bursaries from the Bank totaling $21,870.00 for the first semester of the 2014/2015 academic year, while Sanjali Mahbubani was awarded $1,000.00 for her outstanding performance in the 2014 CXC examinations. Sanjali is now a student at the T.A. Marryshow Community College, aspiring to become a medical doctor.

On making the presentations to the awardees, Managing Director, Keith A. Johnson, congratulated them on their progress, and encouraged them to continue in their academic advancement.

The Bursary programme complements the Bank’s UWI Scholarship, which is made available each year, to assist one (1) qualified Grenadian pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree full time at any of the UWI campuses in the region.

Republic Bank is pleased to continue supporting the development of young people through education. Eligibility for both Scholarship and Bursary is based on academic ability and financial need.
