St. George’s, Grenada; June 22, 2018: For a third consecutive year, students in the St. David area have been given the opportunity to develop in various areas, through the “Not In My Back Yard” (“NIMBY”) performing arts programme. This is one of the projects of the “Proactive Nation Builders”, a not-for-profit organization, whose focus is to institute programmes to positively impact the social lives of the people in the rural St. David communities.

On June 14, at The Canal, St. David, students from some of the schools in the area, primary as well as secondary, were given the opportunity to showcase some of the skills learnt as a result of their involvement in the “NIMBY” programme.

What a fantastic event it was! Some of the musical talent displayed, include: Steel Pan, Wind instruments, Violin, and Drums. Patrons also received a treat with traditional dances like Lancers and Maypole.

“NIMBY” is largely supported by Republic Bank, through its Power to Make A Difference programme. The Bank, since 2015, has expended approximately $82,000 (Eighty Two Thousand Dollars) in financial support to the programme.

Addressing the students at the event, Manager – Head Office, Republic Bank, Ms. Mavis Mc Burnie commented: “For us at Republic Bank, the “NIMBY” performing arts programme is only one avenue where we provide support to our youngsters. We are very happy to contribute to the development of our youth and together with NIMBY, be the catalyst for positive social change within these communities”.

Republic Bank is extremely pleased to have partnered with the Proactive Nation Builders to promote this fantastic and much needed programme.
