Republic Bank Pledges $700,000 Towards Community Projects

St. George’s, Grenada; February 28, 2020: Republic Bank has committed to spending $700,000 in various sponsorship and charitable initiatives over the period October 2019 – September 2020. The announcement was made before a cross-section of beneficiaries in a ceremony held at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, on February 27th.

The ceremony signaled the start of Phase IV of the Power to Make A Difference programme, themed “Creating Alternative Futures”. In this phase, the Bank will champion the creation of alternative futures for the socially marginalized and vulnerable in the society. Projects awarded will focus mainly on development of human capital and development of communities.

Addressing the gathering, Managing Director, Mr. Keith Johnson praised the representatives from the various community-based organizations, for the tremendous sacrifices they continually make. He remarked: “Most of the time, persons in our society are completely unaware of the tremendous sacrifices you make, as leaders and members of “not-for-profit organizations”. Indeed there is ‘so much profit’ in your selfless giving to the sick, vulnerable youth, and the marginalized in our societies. Such passion and dedication is not only inspiring, but truly deserving of our support, and, as the financial institution of choice, Republic Bank stands ready to work with you to build even more successful communities and a better society for our citizens.”

Beneficiaries for this year include, Inter Secondary School Athletic Championships (INTERCOL), RightSTART Cup Youth Football Tournament, Republic Bank Angel Harps Steel Orchestra, Carriacou Regatta Festival, National Learn to Swim Week, GCA RightSTART U19 Cricket Tournament, CHORES Support Group, GRENCODA Books & Uniform Programme, Dorothy Hopkin Centre for the Disabled, Grenada Heart Foundation and the Grenada Cancer Society.

Launched in 2004, the Power to Make A Difference continues to impact individuals and build communities, under four main pillars: the Power to Learn, the Power to Care, the Power to Help and the Power to Succeed.

Republic Bank embraces this new era of cultivating driven individuals and stronger communities, and remains committed to working with groups and community-based organizations which dedicate their time and resources to helping those in need.
