Republic Bank Supports Carriacou Regatta Festival

Highlight of Cultural Performance at the Official Opening

Republic Bank maintains its longstanding association with the Carriacou Regatta Festival. This year the bank has committed EC$15,000.00 to the festival, which is expected to transform the Sister Isle with the attraction of boat lovers and visitors from neighbouring islands and the wider diaspora.

The Bank has been sponsoring the festival for the past twenty-eight (28) years and this continued sponsorship reflects the Bank’s support for the development of culture in Carriacou. Regatta is one of Carriacou’s major tourist attractions and much hype is expected this year. At the official opening ceremony, President of the Regatta Committee, Duane Williams said: “Carriacou boasts the largest workboat regatta in the region and this year we expect increased participation from sailors both locally and regionally.”

Public Relations Officer of Republic Bank, Rachael Jones commended the boat builders, sailors and the Regatta Committee for their unwavering commitment to keeping the tradition alive in Carriacou. In her address at the opening ceremony, she remarked: “Regatta is not just about food, drink and sailing but an integral part of Carriacou’s rich cultural heritage of building not only boats but community as well.”

Republic Bank wishes all a happy and successful Carriacou Regatta Festival 2010.
