For decades Republic Bank has been engaged in making a difference in communities throughout Grenada. Our philanthropic programmes have been focused on developing the skills, talent and intellectual prowess of the people of Grenada and the Caribbean archipelago. Through our support of community outreach programmes, sport, culture, poverty alleviation, education and entrepreneurship we have continued to partner with individuals and groups in the communities in which we operate to promote self-sufficiency, development and hope for the future.
Capping off 28 years of invaluable service to Republic Bank consummate banker and one-time National Commercial Bank (NCB) Managing Director, Michael Archibald, retired on July 31, 2007.
Prior to his retirement, Archibald served as the Managing Director of Republic Bank (Guyana) for five years following 22 invaluable years as the Managing Director of The National Commercial Bank of Grenada Limited (NCB), now Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited.
A fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, Michael Archibald also holds a banking Diploma from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and completed the Chief Executive Programme at the Irish Management Institute.
Amongst Archibald’s greatest career accomplishments is starting NCB on October 15, 1979 amidst the doubts, suspicions and uncertainty of the public with an EC $1 million cheque from the Government of Grenada. A few short years later, Archibald remembers former Prime Minister, Hon. Herbert Blaize, now deceased stating “NCB has become part of the psyche of the people, part of their everyday lives.”
During Archibald’s term, consistent improvements in the Bank’s ratios and annual returns resulted in consistently good profit margins with the Bank’s assets growing significantly. Similarly, under his direction, the Bank held the top position in customer service based on the results of several independent surveys.
Archibald has held executive posts with the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce. He currently serves as Trustee of the Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund and Chairman of both the Guyana Association of Bankers and the Caribbean Association of Indigenous Banks Inc.
Always a charismatic and caring leader, Archibald is very proud of the close relationship that he developed over the years and still maintains with the staff of the Bank. An avid sportsman, he has represented Grenada at cricket, football and basketball.
The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited wishes Michael Archibald good health and the very best well into his retirement.
Republic Bank Limited Managing Director, David Dulal-Whiteway proudly accepts the award for Service Excellence Provider on behalf of Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited from President & CEO of OTEC Training & HR Solutions, Victoria Lymburner
Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited reaffirmed its commitment to raising the financial services industry standard, when it received the Service Excellence Organisation designation from the Ontario Tourism Education Organisation (OTEC).
The award was accepted on behalf of the management and staff of Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited by Managing Director, Republic Bank Limited, David Dulal-Whiteway at a function at the Group’s headquarters in Trinidad, in September.
The award certificate recognizes Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited as an organisation that has demonstrated a high level of commitment to customer service excellence. It was presented by President and CEO of Canadian based OTEC: Training and HR Solutions, Victoria Lymburner who said:
“The process of building a world-class organisation takes time, energy, and commitment. It all starts by developing a shared vision that is focused on the customer and the experience you want your customers to have when they interact with your company. The Republic Bank has done this brilliantly,” she said in her feature address.
She added, “By training thousands of your staff members, in all areas – branches, offices, business centres, Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, you have clearly shown that customer service, as one of your core values, is being enhanced and supported at all levels. You have provided your staff members and representatives with the skills to become true service professionals, which has enabled your organisation to become Service Excellence Certified. Quite an accomplishment!”
In his congratulatory message to staff of the Republic Bank family, Managing Director, Republic Bank Limited, David Dulal-Whiteway, said, “To our benefit, we are a highly motivated and skilled workforce; characterised by efficient teamwork and nonpareil in positive work ethic and integrity. Through your hard work and dedication, we have grown through the years; with your friendly faces and positive attitude, you embody the Republic Brand, an icon of service excellence.”
In order to qualify for the designation, the business or organisation selects the OTEC customer service training program(s) in which it would like its employees to participate. Once selected, 100% of the management staff and 75% of front-line staff (full or part-time) must be trained in the business’ choice of one full-day customer service program, or two half-day programs, offered by OTEC. Upon meeting this criteria and sending in the participant lists, the business would then receive designation as a Service Excellence Organisation.

Let us continue to work effectively as a team, with a positive work attitude and superior service to delight our customers every time!”
