Prior to this appointment Mr. Johnson was a Senior Manager at Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited, with over 32 years of experience. He has functioned in several managerial positions which have resulted in a strong knowledge base in Branch Operations. In 2005 he was seconded to Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited for a short stint, with responsibility for Bank Operations. The following year he served four months at the Group's subsidiary in the Dominican Republic.
He holds an Executive MBA from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill), a B. Sc. in Accountancy from the University of Guyana, and is an Associate of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
Mr. Johnson's appointment comes into effect from February 2, 2009.
After an impressive 26-year span of invaluable service and leadership, Daniel Roberts, Managing Director, Republic Bank (Grenada) will proceed on pre-retirement leave on February 2.
Consummate banker and professional, Roberts held the position of Managing Director for the last seven years and was a pivotal figure during several of the Bank's historic milestones.
Most noteworthy of these were the acquisition of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) by Trinidad-based Republic Bank and subsequent re-branding; the listing of the Bank on the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE), being the first local institution to do so and the relocation of the Bank's St. George's Branch to new state-of-the-art premises in the city.
Over the last seven years, championing the Bank confidently into the future, Roberts was instrumental in the Bank achieving steady improvements in profitability and commanding market share. Additionally, through his leadership, the Bank raised the bar of social investment throughout the tri-island state, having won the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank's (ECCB) "Best Corporate Citizen among Commercial Banks" an unprecedented four times.
The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited, and the entire Republic Bank Group sincerely thank Mr. Roberts for his sterling contributions and wish him all the best for the future.
